I have a 8GB Cruzer Micro, and after a format it stoped working. I can't mount the drive under windows or linux. In windows it shows up in device manager (I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver). If I try to view the drive in My Computer or Disk Manager, it locks up and disk manager or my computer will eventually crash. Under linux it will give me some error about not being able to read superblock. Also, the orange light comes on. But blinks slow. The light almost fades off and on. Any ideas???? My 8GB flash drive is dead Message Edited by khead on 04-21-2008 02:33 PM

regardless of whether you want it or not, try to reinstall the U3 Launchpad on the Cruzer. If it is able to work, it might make your flash drive come back to life, because it does appear to be at least registering with the system. You can always remove U3 once you get the flash drive working again. Go to sandisk.com and click on the Downloads section at the top. Scroll through the product list and click on the one that just says Cruzer Micro and click Find Driver. Put a dot next to U3 LaunchPad Installer and click Continue. Click Skip Registration and then click the blue circle to get the installer.

Only one last suggestion... launch the installer without the Cruzer plugged in, and when it asks to insert a U3 drive, then plug it in. If that does not work, I suggest calling SanDisk and having them replace it for you.

They are usually pretty good about stuff like that. After all you did purchase it legitimately didn't you? Call them up and talk to them about it 1-866-SANDISK
